Horrible Practices of Samsung India

This blog is to highlight the incredibly horrid quality control practices of Samsung India. As Indians we are pretty much used to the second quality treatment as customers, but every once in a while we get the the third quality treatment too & Samsung India has championed that cause.

In Nov 2012 I was delivered a Samsung Plasma TV - PS51E550 Serial # : MQGB3PCC900117Z, which i purchased in Oct 2012.  I had moved into a new house & i decided to pay 75000/- for that TV (i.e approximately 1300 USD). It was a new house & I wanted the best and hence my indulgence. After 3 years of saving I was spending my hard money on what i thought was an investment on entertainment for the next 8-10 years. I even designed a TV unit in wood around it, to go with the 51-inch dimensions. I am not much of a TV person so with about 1 hour viewing everyday, one would assume a TV which costs so much would last a life-time isn't it !! Nope ! you are mistaken, Dear Reader 4 months into the purchase vertical lines started appearing in the panel; it dint' bother me much coz it was not effecting my viewing experience but come November 2013 exactly a year after my warranty expired my TV viewing went upto 2-3 hours everyday since i was Working from Home & trying new career opportunities and lo behold without disappointing; everyday a new vertical line would appear on my panel. A picture to illustrate my case in Point.

Samsung India says they have the best Quality Control practices & customer is their primary focus ! But with such high Quality standards, if this is what comes out of it, A 75000(1300$) TV which fails in 15 months, one can imagine the standards they have set themselves to. :-). Now here is the clincher the cost of repairing this 25000/=, yes that's about 35% of the original cost. So that's about  Rs 1,00,000 (1800$) to be spent in just 15 months of owning a Samsung Product.

They say the Products you own, end up owning you. When you own a Samsung Product, it owns you, owns your time, your money, your peace of mind & even your voice; coz you will loose it shouting at their customer care operations.

As a matter of principle I would not be paying a single rupee to repair this, I am taking a legal course to have my issue addressed &  I am doing this for the rest of the potential customers of this horrid company. Naive customers like me who park their hard-earned money on one of Samsung India's products & then get into a vicious cycle of heartburn, money burn and 'peace of mind' burn. HA HA HA ! my anger towards them makes me laugh.

Please do not for a moment think it's only this product I have a problem with, in the next blog I will speak about my Samsung 1.5 ton Ac experience where I have spent close to 50% of the original product cost to get it working & still does not work !!! :-D.
